Health at the Hospital
If you have conducted the right type of research and selected a hospital whose accreditation and reputation satisfy your needs, you will likely be in good hands. However, even doctors, nurses, and medical personnel can make mistakes or become sloppy. If you ever notice something irregular, don’t be afraid to bring attention to it. Â
Maybe a doctor forgets to wash his or her hands.Â
Maybe a nurse forgets to dispose of a syringe properly.Â
Perhaps the dosage prescribed far exceeds anything you have ever received at home.
Whatever the issue, make sure that you address it in a timely and appropriate manner. This doesn’t mean raising her voice and causing a scene. It does mean, however, that you relate your concerns openly and honestly to anyone involved. You are the client, and you have every right to ask questions, raise concerns, or remove yourself as necessary. This is your health we’re talking about.Â
Food, Water, and Hygiene
One of the great joys of traveling abroad is the food. Tantalizing tastes, exotic smells, delectable dishes, and exquisite cuisine are just some of the reasons why countries like Thailand, India, and Argentina were popular destinations even before medical tourism came along. That being said, there are certain precautions every traveler should take when trying new foods for the first time. For a comprehensive list of food, water, and hygiene concerns, please visit our detailed discussion in Travel Safety.| Previous, Packing Tips | Next, Avoiding Theft & Scams |
