What Is Anterior Repair Surgery?
Cystocele is a clinical condition in which the thin wall between the vagina and bladder becomes too weak to separate the two. Gravity forces the bladder to exert pressure on the vagina, causing discomfort and pain. Anterior repair surgery is a minimally invasive procedure performed by a gynecologist, urologist, or urogynecologist to move the bladder back into position. Â
Anterior repair surgery is performed either under general or spinal anesthesia. During the surgery the vaginal wall is cut to push the balder back into place. Thereafter, the bladder is held in place with stitches, the surgeon removes excess vaginal skin, and he or she closes the wound with more stitches.
