Frequently on CNN news, i have heard israel is in war with palestine etc. Is Israel really safe?

I am an american woman from new york and i need a kidney transplant surgery. Israel offers me the best facilities and my kidney donor is luckily situtated in Israel rual area. But i am little bit apprehensive of travelling to Israel.

Any advice?

It is not as safe as say Greenland or Iceland, for example. There is always a threat of terrorism, which I think should not bother anyone, because it could happen anywhere, its just that the frequency of attacks against Israel is more. Other than this, Israel would be safer than many places in New York!

Hey man wom pie!! You are from NY and talking of safety. 1.5 million people visit Israel every year on an average. How many terrorists to you hear of among them??? There is no place like home only coz you are so used to it. You can contact the embassy people and clear your doubts too.

Well - A New Yorker concerned about the safety aspect in Israel!!! I find it really amusing! But I know you are serious - and perhaps should not jest with you! Hypothetically no place is safe - there is some amount of risk everywhere - I guess if you are keen on medical tourism and want to get affordable medical care - this is one risk that you should be willing to take. And FYI - the chances that something untoward may happen to you when in Israel is much less than you getting run over by a cab in New York! So brave it woman - and get your kidney transplant done! ASAP. You are lucky to get a donor - the waiting period in some countries - is pretty long - don't lose this chance.

I have heard that The Israeli govt. has come out with a guide for medical tourists. I do notknow if such a thing exists for other countries. But I feel it shows the keenness with which the country deals with medical tourism. Yet the deciosion is very personal and you are the one should make up your mind
