Lack of Sleep - any connection with ulcers? 3 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi,
I have heard that stress can cause ulcers. Does lack of sleep also cause ulcers? I am not under stress of any kind, but I am in the habit of staying up watching movies or at times on the net. I have been diagnosed with ulcers, my food is regular and normal, so what is the cause?

Yes lack of sleep causes ulcers...Please change your schedule to porper day schedule and try to go to bed at 10-11 p.m. When you dont sleep in night, then your body produces stress hormone which causes ulcers.

By sleeping in night (8 hrs) you will reduce a lot of stress !

So that's it. I thought it was relaxing for me to stayup and watch a movie or connect with distant friends on the net at night. I did not know it could affect my stomach. So I have to stop the late nights and hit the pillows early.

Lack of sleep causes a biological imbalance in you body and is very likely to lead to many side effects which includes ulcers, lethargy and depression. While it is possible that depression may lead to lack of sleep - this is indeed a catch 22 situation.
Lack of sleep could also be due many other activities like - watching TV, smoking, not keeping up a time schedule and even alcoholism. So you should begin to focus on setting a biological rhythm to rest your body and recharge it. A conscious effort must be made here.
