insulin rejection 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Mu aunt is a type II diabetic patient and is insulin dependent. The Doc says she has become resistant to insulin injections rather her body does not take it. She has been having oscillating sugar levels. How do we prevent this from happening. AS daibetes runs in our family how do we prevent this situation. During my pregnancy I too had a temporary increase in sugar level.

I did the same as you a fews ago,and to get myself back on track,I had to go back to the hospital and get some more education from my diabetes nurse.Mind you if you had lost 25 pounds, and you have gained 5 pounds, you still have a net loss of 20 pounds,so I don't think thats a problem. It seems as though your insulin levels are too high,it can't be rejection,as you must be using one of the human insulins that are availableeg Actrapid,or Humalog.A good idea when you are eating is to eat what you want, but try to stay off the soft drinks, and the sweets. You probably know all that anyway. It sounds like your body is balancing itself out ,after all the years of neglect.I'm sure it will come good, but in the mean time go to your doctors, and get the needed blood tests, check out BSLs.HBALC.u&e's GOOD LUCK

One the ways to manage insulin resistance thing is to reduce dependence on insulin...strict life style changes can help you with that like diet changes, specially the carbs. Foods with high glycemic index like white breads , potatoes, chips, fries etc. Eat high fiber low glycemic foods like vegetables- broccoli, green beans, asparagus, carrots, and greens.

Also manage your weight well and do regular excercise/yoga which helps in processing sugar faster and efficiently.

Another method is medication...if you resistant to insulin rejection. medicines like Glucophage/metaformin can control your diabetes well without taking insulin injections.
