Hypothalamic hamartoma (HH) describes a benign brain tumor located close to or within the hypothalamus. This part of the brain produces the hormones that control body processes such as thirst, hunger, sex hormone regulation and the release of hormones from the thyroid and adrenal glands. HH is associated with a number of features including difficult epilepsy, particularly gelastic (laughing) seizures, behavioral problems and precocious (early) puberty. The range and severity of these features varies widely between individuals.
Diagnosis of a hypothalamic hamartoma might be possible on antenatal ultrasound, but this would need to be confirmed using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).
Countries like India, Philippines and Thailand offer affordable health care and diagnostic facilities and you may choose to go to one of these countries for diagnosis.

Hi,
As per details given in MayoClinic.com.
The only test that can absolutely make a diagnosis of a brain tumor is a biopsy. This can be done as part of an operation to remove the tumor, or can be done in a separate procedure where only a small sample of tissue is obtained. A needle biopsy may be used for brain tumors in hard to reach areas within your brain. The surgeon drills a small hole, called a burr hole, into your skull. A narrow, thin needle is then inserted through the hole. Tissue is removed using the needle, which is frequently guided by CT scanning.
