My son who is 19 years old - has been practicing scuba diving for the past 3 months. Now occasionally he complains of ear ache. Do you think this has a connection? If so what should I do? It is worrying me - but he insists that there is no connection between the two - but I have read somewhere that due to the pressure in the water it is possible that ear can get affected. Can somebody reassure me that there is no connection between scuba diving and occasional ear aches.

My Sonr had an ear infection when he was about 10 years of age (now he is 20 years) .... after that he had to undergo lengthy treatment to get it cured. Now he plans to go on vacation which includes scuba diving …after reading this post I am worried ….Is there any chance that his ears will get effected once again. After his treatment the doctor had advised us to be very careful in future.

I see that you every reason to be concerned. But there is no need for you to get worried really. Just ensure that you child takes all the precautions. Don't kill the spirit of adventure in the child.
