Bleeding Gums - Anything got to do with teeth? 11 Months ago Karma: 0
My son suffers from gums that bleed - although it is not painful - I am much worried. Could it have anything to do with the teeth? Do I consult a dentist of any other specialist for this? He is 8 years old.

Hi Anantara,

Your son could be having gum disease, or he may be brushing too vigorously. It is important that you visit a dentist and get treatment immediately.

I will take him to the dentist pronto and if that does not help to any other specialist. But his attacks are rather sporadic. It is there one day and does not appear for months and then suddenly it happens 5 times a week. This is what had me worried. Thanks a lot for your reply.

That is the best decision you can make. But try to see the doctor when the bleeding actually occurs, so that he can make an assesment and do tests immediately.

Hope your son recovers quickly.

Sometimes when food particles or plaque get trapped between teeth and gums resulting in infection due to an outgrowth of bacteria and this could cause the gums to bleed when pressure is applied on them - like during brushing of teeth. Do consult a dentis or even a GP to find out the cause of bleeding gums.
