GAPS IN TEETH AFTER BRACES 1 Year ago Karma: 0
Hi,
I had got braces when I was very young about 10 yrs for teeth rectification……..I am 24 now…….. I find THAT MY TEETH HAS STARTED sHOWING GAPS in between ……….IT LOOKS BAD and I am told that the strength of teeth also will reduce. Treatment looks very expensive here ……is there cheaper treatment alternatives – once again going through the braces ordeal is DISGUSTING.

It is unfortunate that you did not get proper dental treatment. You have not mentioned which part of the world you live in, to give you an alternative. Are all Dental Service providers bad in your country?? Expensive is a matter to consider. As you have seen, this treatment takes a long time and several visits to the dentist. If you go for treatment in another country, you have to be prepared for the cost of living there for a long time, or bear the cost of travelling several times. It may not then be cheaper than your own country.

The best you can do is to find a good Dental Surgeon, and find out what exactly is wrong, and what can be done to remedy it. Then, if you can come back to the forum with the procedure that is recommended, we can guide you as to where it will be cheapest.

It happened with my son too. I had spent quite a lot to get his teeth corrected and after 4 years since he had his braces removed - i can see one tooth of his going inwards and one more getting a little crooked. Either the dentist had not a good job or the retainer plates were not worn regularly. He has to get his teeth corrected all over again. You are just 24 and you can try corrected all over again. Bad Luck!

Hi,
The Dentists here r not bad at all………..My problem is because I had got my braces on too early now that my GUMS have expanded …….there is a lot of space …….what the doc here advise is artificial teeth implants after another ordeal of BRACES…….By the way i m from NEW JERSY.

Hi Toony,
It is not your Gums that have expanded, but your Jaw that has grown. You have to go to a good dental surgeon, to find out why your teeth have not grown proportionately. It may not be just a problem arising out of the braces.

If your dentist has taken all this into consideration, then what he has suggested may be your only option.

Ok First of all - it was not a good idea for you to have your braces when you were ten. Your jaws have obviously expanded. I really wonder as to how the dentist allowed it.
Secondly - it is imperative that your should have worn the retainer plates - many don't tend to this - because it is removable and they find it convenient to do so. But fortunately even the retainer plates nowadays can be permanent. But that is a different matter altogether.
The best option for you would be to go in for another round of wearing braces and this time please do go to a reputed dental care center.
