Hi, is being on your feet all day a cause for vericose veins? I stand for long periods of time during my work day, and need to know if I am at risk of vericose veins due to this. My legs ache at the end of the day, and I have to put my feet up to get some relief.

reasons for varicose veins are many and include
damaged valves, this can happen either due to genetics or due to one of the undermentioned causes
weight
standing for long periods
crossing your legs while sitting
smoking
and
poor diet.

these have not been completely scientifically established.

Thanks for the info, friend. One of the cause you mentioned is exactly what I go through. So I should get all the information I can about this. I shall check the link you gave, it seems to be on the same website. Funny how I did not find it earlier.

Hello Horizon,
You can use the elastic sock to force blood back up from your legs. I use them as i have to be on my feet most of my working day. I have been told that it cuts the risk of problems like these, and for me I feel more comfortable wearing them.

Hi I was just reading the posts for varicose veins and wanted to add my experience. My aunt who is a teacher had a severe case of varicose. She underwent a new laser technique at at the Indraprastha Apollo Hospital, New DElhi and she obtained great relief.
