What exactly is oesophagitis? I went to the doctor complaining about a soreness tightness in the food pipe. He thought I may be suffering from oesophagitis. What could have caused this condition and is a treatment expensive?

Oesophagitis is the inflammation of the oesophagus caused by acid reflux from the stomach. But angina and oesopahgitis are sometimes confused so its best to eliminate angina.

Oh! Thank you. The doctor has advised me a series of tests - it could be to eliminate angina. He has also reassured me that it is nothing to worry about.

Hello,
Since this condition is caused by acid reflux, whoever suffers from acid reflux must expect it. It may be confused with angina if the person does not know if he is suffering from acid reflux, and that does not seem possible. Acid reflux is not something you suffer and not know about, it certainly makes itself felt. So if you have acid reflux, then do not worry, angina should not be one of your worries.

Hamneggs that was the most confusing statement i have ever read. My Uncle has acid reflux but when he had angina he mistook that for acid reflux and we nearly lost him Thats why docs generally advice to test for angina even though you well know you have acid reflux.
