A smear test, or a Pap smear test is a relatively normal gynecological procedure. the patient should tr and schedule the test for when she is not having her periods. it is painless. the doctor takes a tiny portion of the tissue in the cervix and sends it across to the lab for testing.

Thats an interesting question. I have read about smear test !
As far as i know, they take cells from cevrix to test under microsope. After your periods are over and before you get new periods, thats the best time to collect cells.
Dont worry, it does not hurt at all to remove cells from cevrix. They have an instrument called speculum to do that.
Liquid-based cytology is the newest method introduced for smear test.

It is a basically simple test to medically test the health of a woman health cervix. Basically a nurse takes a small sample of cervical cells and then check it under microscope.
If abnormal cells are found, then the doctor needs to figure whether to treat those abnormal cells or not. Because in most cases, cells normally go back to become normal.
If these cells are not treated then in about a decade time, it migrates to become cancer.
My wife went through smear and luckily results were favourable.
