Stress and ulcers 1 Year, 4 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi Friends, I deal in stocks and securities, and the job can be quite stressful to say the least. I suffer from acidity most days, and consume a lot of antacids. Recently a colleague said that I am a prime candidate for ulcers. Is that true? I cannot afford to lose this job, so what are my options? Please help.

The most important thing is you have realized that you are likely to get ulcers. And of course prevention is surely better than cure.

Firstly I would advice you to check you blood group. In a survey conducted it has been found that people who 'O' blood group are more prone to ulcers than the rest. Remember not to take analgesics without eating something. Reduce your coffee and vitamin C intake especially in an empty stomach. Take care not to eat hot stuff like pepper and chilly products. Try yoga for stress busting.

Hello X...al,
My group, fortunately is not O. I do drink a lot of coffee, but take no vitamin or other supplements. The only meal I have regularly is dinner. Everything else is on the go, eat when possible. How can this Yoga help inside my gut? Isnt' it some sort of exercise routine?

If you are worried that your life style is stress full and could lead to ulcers …….You r lucky that u have become aware of the problem before getting effected…….Prevention is always better than cure…..so take care of your eating habits …..Skipping meals is very dangerous……if U do not find time to take food…..take some beverages like fruit juices etc…….drink lot of water whenever u have skipped a meal.
Yoga helps a lot …..it is not only a physical exercise, it helps in vitalizing the functions of the organs of the body as well as relaxes the mind.
Take care…..

Hey, there is a good alternative to skipping meals due to lack of time. I know the problem i face it too. If you are very busy, have a milk shake with fruit in it. It fills you up, it is nutritious, and no worries about ulcers. You should find a place close to your work place where you can have a quick milk shake or have it delivered to your work place if possible.

Stress I guess has become a part of living. In fact if you ask me if I were not stressed I would not deliver. Life is certainly becoming rather complicated - but man has learned to not only live with but also survive many stressful situations. Realizing that this is happening is the first step towards alleviating stress.

Believe me the world can survive a week or two without our interference. So I suggest drop everything and take two weeks off. Leave you cell phone behind you and go on a holiday - that relaxes both your body and spirit. You deserve it. It helps you rejuvenate and come back with so much more energy and life.

Ulcers occur only if your eating habits are way out of order. Take health foods, avoid alcohol and smoking, sleep for at least eight hours, have regular healthy meals and you are better equipped to face the world in a fortnight.

Good luck.
