You doctor has given you good advice. If your son is allergic to lactose products, soya milk is a good substitute. Its nutrition level is almost that of cow's milk. And many commercially produced soya milk has the added advantage of vitamin enrichment. The protein content in soya milk while not the same as cow's milk is nevertheless as good. So don't hesitate and give him soya milk.

I drink soya milk regularly and it is great...it is rich in vegetable proteins, reduces cholesterol, contains no hormones, does not cause insulin dependent diabetes, s rich in isoflavones, the list is long. So switch over today and enjoy a lifetime of good health.

Hi,
My son is also allergic to milk, and has been taking soy milk. He is healthy and fine now. Will this allergy last a lifetime? Would he have to avoid dairy products for the rest of his life?

Unfortunately allergy to lactic products like milk do last a life time. So you have to find an alternate supplement for that. But the good news is there are many people who have milk allergy and have got along pretty well with life. Once you realize this you will begin planning a wholesome diet without including milk. So don't sweat or fret.
