The clinical feature of rickets due to the disorders of vitamin D is weakness, bone pain, bone deformity & fracture. In children with acquired disorders in vitamin D, signs and symptoms of rickets will vary with the age in which the deficiency is being manifested. Children with hereditary disorders of vitamin D appear normal at birth as levels in fetal plasma are sustained by placental transplant from maternal plasma that is not regulated the fetal vitamin D system. These children usually develop characteristic features of rickets with in the first two years of life. Defects in bone mineralisation are particularly evident in regions of rapid bone development, in the area of the cranium wrist & ribs. Rickets at this time will lead to cranial sutures, frontal bossing, posterior flattening of skull etc. Dental eruption is delayed & teeth show enamel hypoplasia.

My son who is three years old is also affected by flouridation or whatever it is. His enamel are totally gone in the front teeth. will this affect his permanent teeth. Can this be treated? If so can it be done during a medical vacation?
