Hi, I read about people wanting six pack abs and great muscles. Frankly, I am obese and generally unfit. All I am interested in is getting fit again, just a normal body size, and general feeling of well being six packs and bulging muscles are not for me. What is the best way of doing that without killing oneself in the gym?

Running..thats the best way, natural way of doing it. It is the most simplest way also and totally free of cost ! Life is simple, we make it complicated.
Since you are obese, you are taking more calories then you spending and hence all the extra calories making you unfit. Go to any good website and first count your calories intake depending on your schedule.
Then structure your diet to take those many calories which is required and run/brisk walk every day for 30 mins.
Within few months, you will shed extra fat !

That is one way, hope there are more suggestions. I was considering taking up jogging, so your suggestion is an endorsement of that.
