Meningioma treatment 6 Months ago Karma: 0
Hi

We are British expats living in Colombo, Sri Lanka. Im a retired nurse who has worked for the NHS for over 25 years. 6 months ago my husband was suffering from headaches and a swelling around his left eye. He was diagnosed with a meningioma and received neurosurgical treatment here in Sri Lanka. It was excellent and he has made a full recovery. I have a friend who had an abdominoplasty done here a year ago. She is very happy with the results and the cost savings compared to the U.K.

My question is why doesnt this forum have a section for medical treatment in Sri Lanka?

oops..sorry for late reply...but i really like your question. I think India has got all the limelight due to its sheer size and record number of medical tourist coming every year but smaller nations like sri lanka are even more cost effective then India.

I think Sri Lanka needs to organise its medical tourism industry, make sure the quality of treatment is at par with international standards.

You can always give your suggestions to webmaster/moderator of the forum of adding Sri Lanka to the list of nations.

In fact if medical tourism is considered to be a good revenue earner for Sri lanka and if the medical tourism operators in Sri lanka were keen they should push more. You don't find many sites that tell us in detail about the medical tourism facilities available in the country. And yes it is over shadowed by India where there is a current boom.

Sri Lanka has the potential, I certainly know of its touristic attractions. If medically too they are competitive, I do not see why it cannot come up. Size is no bar, as long as you advertise what you have to offer.
