Surgery for Knock Knees 5 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0  
Is there a surgical option available for knock knees? My son is 8 years old now and I find that he has knock knees. Any suggestions to help cure without surgery would also be welcome. If I have to go in for surgery for him - which place would be best in terms of economy? Thank you in advance.

The first option would be to treat it without surgery, using braces, special footwear etc. Surgery is recommended only if it does not respond till age 10. This topic has been discussed in this forumn, please go to this link :

Many children do out grow the problem of knock knees. So don't be in a hurry to go in for surgery. Wait and watch till your child is 12 years and then you may decide. Unless there is a congenital bone deformity it should not continue beyond the age of 12. Meanwhile you can teach your child simple exercises which a good bone doctor would help you with.

ya the surgery is available but it is recommended at the age of 10-11 ... at present you should use the night braces appliance for your child....if the pain is relived you should continue or go for surgery ..
However, if knock-knees go untreated and persist into adulthood, total knee replacement surgery may be necessary to relieve pain.

Physicians typically prescribe appliances such as night braces for children who have knock-knees.
