Damaged replacement of knee. 1 Year, 1 Month ago Karma: 0
Hi,
An aged relative had knee replacement surgery, but these have been damaged in a fall. Can a repeat surgery be done to replace the joints again?

Yes of course you can go in for surgery to replace the replaced knee. The cost involved would be as much as a normal knee replacement procedure.

Good, I think I shall contact the same hospital in India where it was done. Atleast it will be cheaper.

Yes ideally you should contact the same hospital as they had already operated you and can provide you some discount if possible. Anyways which hospital it was in India.? If the cost is equivalent or more than the other hospital for knee replacement surgery you can opt for some other hospital. Apollo or Max hospital in India can provide you good treatment for your knee surgery.

There is also very good medical travel company in Poland. Their partner is The Military Clinical Hospital (one of the biggest and most modern in that country). I heard they are really good and not so expensive. www.medical-poland.com ( I think )

Koko, I'm a grad student at Duke doing medical tourism research. Would love to chat with you about surgery in India and have a free gift for your time. If interested, please email me at bryan.vaughn@fuqua.duke.edu. Thanks

While replacing a damaged knee is a very good option thanks to the advances made in medical technology, one must also look into other options before doing this. There are many exercises that strengthen muscles and a good physio can help rebuild or at least put life into those atrophied muscles.
