Is eating ice cubes bad for teeth? 2 Months, 2 Weeks ago Karma: 0  
My eight year old likes to eat ice, and he often takes cubes from the freezer and eats them, crunching them in his mouth. Is it bad for his teeth? Should it be stopped?

Absolutely. Please do stop the child. There are many parents who don't bother correcting this because they feel that these are just milk teeth and in any case they will fall - and that they can correct it once the permanent teeth appear - but the tendency to eat ice cubes and enjoying crunching them could be habit forming that is very likely to last longer.

Yes I am going to ban ice cubes in the freezer till he gets out of the habit. It is difficult to stop it when the child is too small to understand the implications. So maybe out of sight out of mind will be a good approach.
