Hotels in Istanbul

Budget Hotels

If you’re on a tight budget during your medical tourism visit, you should stick with the youth hostels and 1 or 2 star hotels that decorate the city.  Be warned, however, that the majority of these establishments are father away from the main tourist attractions.  Be prepared to travel a bit, although transportation within Istanbul is usually quite manageable.

Moderately Priced Hotels

The Sultanahmet area is the nucleus of Istanbul. It’s where most of the restaurants and bars are located, and most of the tourist attractions are also close to the center of the city. Moderately priced hotels these days, however, have price tags that look more like five-star hotel.  Because hotel rooms in this area are in such demand, there has also been a rash of family run homes being hastily converted into hotels.  You end up paying a premium for the location.

Price isn’t the only reason you might want to look for other accommodation options in the city.  Hotels in Sultanahmet tend to be frequented by annoying carpet salesmen.  The amount of heckling is not even funny.

If Sultanahmet's inflated prices and carpet salesmen sound off-putting, head to Beyoglu to set up camp on your medical tourism sojourn.  Here, you can find the exact same level of services and amenities at markedly lower prices.  The trendiest bars and nightclubs are coming up in this part of town, and it’s less touristy than Sultanahmet.

Luxury Hotels

There are a number of luxury hotels that take full advantage of the incredible Bosporus Strait location.  These converted estates, palaces, museums, and mansions present a stunning hybrid Euro-Asian culture that is reflected in the grandeur and extravagance of their interiors. Nearly every big name hotel chain has a presence here, offering a luxury “home away from home” on your medical tourism vacation.
