Thai Visa Requirements
Make sure you know the visa laws before you go.
Thailand's visa rules are different for every country. Travelers from the US, for example, can receive a 30 day entry visa at the airport when they arrive. Egyptian travelers, on the other hand, must apply for a visa prior to departure. To see a complete list of visa requirements for your country, click here. (refer to the spreadsheet at the end of this document…I'd like to make this a pulldown….)
Staying Longer in Thailand
Although most medical procedures can be completed in a matter of days, occasionally, you will need or want to extend your stay past the 15, 30, 60, or 90 day period that your original visa allows. In some cases, a quick trip to the Thailand Immigration Office will suffice. In other situations, you might need to exit the country, receive a stamp, and then reenter.
Staying Even Longer
On October 1, 2006, many of the visa laws were changed to make it harder for expatriates to live in Thailand under the radar. As part of this change, tourists who enter on a standard 30 day visa can only stay in Thailand for a total of 90 days (assuming that they have followed the necessary renewal processes every 30 days). Thereafter, they must leave the country for an additional 90 days before they can reenter.
