Pickpocketing and Theft

Keep your purse and wallet safe at all times.  Don't leave your bags unattended. 

You can find pickpockets almost everywhere you go, including Thailand.  But you might be surprised to discover that pickpocketing and theft are relatively rare these days due to recent government crackdowns.  Because Thailand values tourism so strongly, they have effectively made theft such an unattractive option that only the most foolish individuals would ever prey on tourists, especially in places with heavy traffic. 

But of course, pickpocketing still does exist, so exercise extreme caution everywhere you go.  Never leave bags unattended, keep your wallet or purse safe at all times, and don't flash money around.
