Overview
Blessed with a location 1,753 metes above sea level, the city of Johannesburg enjoys a pleasant climate all year round. The city receives plenty of sunshine, with most of its rainfall coming during the summer months.  The favorable weather is one of the biggest attractions luring thousands of holidaymakers and medical tourism travelers to the sun-soaked city.  There is none of the humidity of Durban nor the damp conditions of Cape Town. Seasons
Summer in Johannesburg begins in October and continues though March.  You can expect warm and sunny days, with sudden showers in the afternoon.  Rainfall is accompanied by lightning and thunder, but showers are mercifully brief and shouldn’t interfere with your medical tourism vacation. Winter in Johannesburg is marked by sunny days when the temperature drops to 25 degrees C (77 F), and cold nights with occasional frost.  Snowfall is a rare occurrence with the last known episode in June, 1964.
Notwithstanding its location and dry climate, Johannesburg is one of the greenest medical tourism destinations you’ll visit, with over 10 million trees.  The city has the largest manmade forests in the world, and most of these trees were planted in the early nineteenth century to meet the mines’ need for wood. Successive city governments have encouraged the planting of trees in the northern suburbs of the city.
Best Time to Visit
A visit during the end of the year will have you enjoying sunny weather, and make for a warm and toasty Christmas. Spring and autumn are considered ideal for water sports because the temperatures can be a little high in summer, although not to the same extent as in the rest of the country.
