Budget Hotels

Cheap Hotels

Finding cheap accommodation in the Lion City can be a challenge. The city’s hotel industry is fueled by the international business sector, and as such, lodgings for the medical tourism traveler on a budget can be hard to come by.  This is not to say there aren’t any options at all, however. Backpacker hostels are always a safe bet. They’re usually packed with Westerner, and though they might lack stylish interiors and perks, you can always count on clean rooms.  Smaller budget hotels can be found in places like Little India and Chinatown, and a few of them are scattered around the Orchard Road area too.  Nearly all hotels, whether budget or high end will include in-house movies, room service, and laundry and dry cleaning services.  Plus, you can expect more personalized attention in smaller budget hotels. On the extreme end of the budget range are the sleazy run-down hotels that you’ll want to avoid.

Mid Range Hotels

These are more affordable than the high end luxury properties but include more frills than budget pads.  Standard features include IDD connections in all rooms, internet connectivity, and mini bars.  On the other hand, if you don’t intend to step into the fitness club or use the business center on your medical tourism vacation, it doesn’t make sense to pay extra for these privileges.  A newer trend is the emergence of boutique hotels, fashioned out of historic building and colonial homes. Some of these are in the luxury league, but you’ll also find rooms at quaint inns converted from Chinese shop houses at prices that don’t pinch.

Luxury Hotels

A bulk of the luxury hotel sector’s business comes from international corporate travel and plump corporate accounts.  This makes for fierce competition in this sector with each hotel trying to outdo the rest in terms of amenities, facilities, and outlandishly luxurious suites.  As a result, almost all high end hotels offer a selection of multi-cuisine restaurants, bars, fully outfitted fitness centers, 24 hour masseurs, spa and beauty facilities, limousine services, and so on.  Some will go the extra mile and offer flat screen TVs, a Stairmaster, and Sony PlayStations in their rooms.  In fact, with the money you’ll save on lowered procedure rates, a Singapore medical tourism vacation might be your best bet to enjoy this level of decadence.
