The medical tourism destination of Poland is a parliamentary democratic republic.  According to the constitution, the government's power is separated amongst the legislature, executive, and judiciary.  The head of the government is the prime minister, while the president acts as the head of state.

Executive

Poland’s executive powers are vested in a Council of Ministers, whose members are chosen from the majority party in the Sejm, or the lower house of parliament. The prime minister is the head of the Council of Ministers in this medical tourism center, and he not only supervises the council, but he also oversees the activities of local governments.  He is the official head of Poland’s administration.  

Legislature

Legislative powers are contained in the Sejm and Senate.  There are 460 members in the Sejm, whose main duties are to vote on laws and oversee appointments made to the Council of Ministers.  The Senate is comprised of 100 members, whose main duty is create laws.

Judiciary

Poland’s judiciary comprises tribunals and independent courts, with the Supreme Court acting as the highest judicial authority in the country.  The Supreme Court’s responsibilities include validating the results of presidential as well as parliamentary elections.  It also considers appeals in addition to providing feedback on laws that have yet to be passed.

President

The president acts as the guardian of Poland’s constitution and is considered the highest ranking representative of the country.  He appoints the prime minister, based on approval from parliament.

Political parties

The center right Civic Platform is the largest party in office in the Sejm.  Other parties in this medical tourism destination include the conservative Law and Justice, Democratic Left Alliance, Polish People’s Party, and Social Democracy of Poland.
