Nightlife in Warsaw

Overview

As one of Europe's most happening cities, Warsaw is currently enjoying a revival of theater and opera, besides the endless selection of cafes, lounge bars, and dance clubs that it offers the medical tourism traveler.  With an unprecedented economic boom, and the return of thousands of Polish emigrants who are carving out their slice of the country's booming success pie, there are a myriad of partying venues for these upwardly mobile young Poles to drop their cash.  As Poland's cultural capital, there is also a wide and surprisingly inexpensive selection of cultural performances and theatrical extravaganzas for the medical tourism visitor to look forward to.

Bars and Clubs

The after-hours scene in Warsaw is reminiscent of the energy of Berlin in the mid-nineties.  Although Krakow has a reputation for being a bar hopper's paradise with a dense population of watering holes to choose from, it's Warsaw that is recognized by well traveled night crawlers as the partying capital of Poland.  From Oriental-style hookah lounges to raucous Irish pubs to everything in between, there is enough variety in the bar scene to sate the most jaded medical tourism traveler.

For a less noisy place to down your drink, head to the Nowy Swiat and Krakowskie Przedmiescie areas where there is a nice selection of cocktail bars and cozy cafés.  Most of the best clubs are located in the city center, although the Praga suburb is quickly becoming the nightlife mecca for trendy Varsovians.

Theater

The city has a renowned music and opera scene and boasts of a variety of offerings for those who prefer an enriching evening at the theater.  Catch a performance at the opera house, or the Teatr Wielki, to catch an Italian classic or even an experimental local production.  The Philharmonic Narodowa hosts regular classical musical performances, including works by the National Philharmonic.  Cultural events in Warsaw are not just plentiful, but they are also priced reasonably.Â
