Nightlife in Budapest

Overview

Since its inclusion in the European Union, Budapest, Hungary has been welcoming hordes of tourists from around Europe. Drinks and entertainment are extremely plentiful, and compared to other European capitals, they are definitely on the cheaper side.  Just make sure you get your medical tourism doctor's permission before enjoying a super raucous night on the town.

Bars and Clubs

Pubs and bars open for business quite early in the morning and stay open throughout the day. Most clubs will begin to see some action around 11 pm, and the partying may not stop until early morning.  Ask your hotel desk clerk for a copy of one of the city’s daily newspapers for listings of the trendiest bars and clubs in your neighborhood.

Don’t be surprised if you see groups of boisterous bachelors at your bar or club. Over the last couple of years, Budapest has come to be known as the stag party capital of Europe. These partiers are drawn in equal parts by the gorgeous women, the cheap alcohol, and the beautiful city itself.

If you prefer a night out that’s not accompanied by loud music and raucous laugher, drop in at a bistro, where you can enjoy a show or theater performance over a leisurely meal, followed by coffee.

Theater

The Hungarian State Opera House is one of the most impressive buildings in the country, and tickets for a seat in the royal box are surprisingly cheap. Most performances however, are in the Magyar language. An evening at the opera offers a chance to soak up some high brow elements of Hungarian culture.

Palinka is the national spirit of Hungry and comes in a variety of sweet flavors.  The country’s wines are underestimated, but in the last few years, they have come to enjoy a loyal following.  Alcohol prices are always cheap, ensuring that your medical tourism vacation doesn’t break the bank.  However, we cannot stress the important of proper care and prudence.  If you recently received some type of surgery or treatment, be sure to check your medical tourism practitioner before hitting the town.
