Seasons
Havana enjoys a typical tropical climate with two distinct seasons.  The weather is generally hot and very humid most months. The rainy season begins in May, and continues through October with an average rainfall of 132 cm (52 inches).  May can be extremely humid.  The dry season begins in November, and continues through April.  Between September and October is official hurricane season in Cuba, and most tourist attractions (including hotels) will be closed.
Best Time to Visit
The period from March to May can be a little clammy, but it might be the best time for your medical tourism vacation.  The official tourist season has ended, and you’ll find things lot quieter.  Easter celebrations during this period also offer a peek into the religious practices of the locals.  If you want to avoid the stifling heat and excessive humidity, schedule your medical tourism trip during July and August.  These months fall during the rainy season, but it’s rare to have rain throughout the day.  Usually what passes for rainfall here is cloudy weather in the daytime, with showers that last for a couple of hours in the afternoon.  Habaneros also take their vacations during this period, choosing to head to the beach towns, and leaving the capital city free for holidaymakers and medical tourism vacationers.
The official peak season begins in December and continues through April.  This is when (some) American and European vacationers arrive in Havana to escape the biting winters in their homelands.  The holiday season at the end of the year is particularly festive.  New Year’s Eve calls for a double celebration in Havana – it’s also the anniversary of Castro and his troops entering the city.  The partying can be riotous and lasts all night long.  Prices are higher during this time however, so budget travelers should visit during spring and fall when accommodations and airplane flights are much cheaper.Â
