Recreation in Sao Paulo

Parks and Gardens

A great way to people watch in Sao Paulo and soak up some flavor is to head to one of the many public parks and gardens that dot this medical tourism haven. Besides offering a glimpse of Paulistas who come here to unwind, these green spaces are a welcome escape from the everyday chaos of the city.

The Parque de Luz attracts families and nature lovers with its enormous (and old) trees. When it was first established in the late nineteenth century, it was seen as being too far from the city; with expansion, the parque has come to be included within city limits, and is now a favorite haunt of couple, families, and the odd jogger.  The Parque de Ibirapuera is the largest public park in Sao Paulo and has plenty of greenery, statues, and monuments.  It even has a great planetarium that’s worth visiting.

The Parque Tenente Siqueira Campos is richly covered with vegetation and features walking trails and a kiddie play area.  Quiet and peaceful, it's a great place to unwind after your medical tourism procedure.

Banespa Tower on Rue Juao Bricolos offers a bird eye view of the city, every concrete skyscraper covered inch of it.

Fairs and Markets

Even if you're not a big shopper, a visit to one of the many fairs is a terrific way to while away an hour or two on your medical tourism vacation.  Besides, you get to watch street commerce in play. Just be sure to bargain hard since many vendors prey on unsuspecting tourists.

The Antiques Fair on Avendia Paulista features dealers who are registered, so you can be sure of the quality of the goods.  The Praca de Republica Fair is open from morning to afternoon on Sunday and draws residents with its impressive variety of leather goods, antiques, artifacts, and handicrafts.
