Budget Hotels
The hotel industry in Rio offers a variety of accommodation options. Luckily for medical tourism travelers, many of the inexpensive hotels are located near the Copacabana area where much of the action and sightseeing are. The Ipanema area also has many budget and moderately priced hotels. But, the subway doesn’t operate here, which makes transportation an issue. Â
If you think your Brazilian medical tourism vacation isn’t complete without a spectacular ocean view from your hotel balcony, step into one of the oceanfront hotels near the Copacabana. A sea facing view comes with a price tag however. If you do your medical tourism vacation right, you won't spend much time in your hotel room, so it's questionable how necessary the extra price actually is. Because even economy hotels offer private bathrooms, color TVs, and phone services in each room, you’re sure to be comfortable without having to shell out hefty surcharges. Just make sure you book a room with AC. Even at night, Rio can become unbearable.Â
Luxury Hotels
If you gravitate towards the posher side, head to historic Gloria, Catete, or Flamengo. The architecture in these areas is fascinating, and the luxury hotels here come with all the perks you would expect. The Barra de Tijuca area also has a selection of fine hotels, but you’ll have to take a 90 minute journey to get to the happening Ipanema and Copacabana areas. Â
Things to Remember on Your Medical Tourism Vacation
There are enough accommodation options in Rio to make booking hotels rooms relatively easy on your medical tourism vacation. However, you should be aware that if you arrive during insane times of the year like New Years or Carnival, hotels often insist on longer stays, higher fees, and more restrictions. Rooms can be difficult to find during these times, so book well in advance.Â| Previous, Getting Around Rio | Next, Dining in Rio |
