A New Breed of Men Through Plastic Surgery

Medical breakthroughs have long been responsible for saving lives.  Countless hours of research, testing, and experimentation have allowed doctors and surgeons around the world how to change lives, too.  Advancements in plastic surgery enable doctors to physically transform women into men and vice versa via female-to-male or male-to-female surgeries (also known as sex reassignment surgery).  The cosmetic applications have been around for decades, but today’s “adjustments” like hormone treatments, technological advancement, improved plastic surgery techniques, and prosthetic genitalia grafted from the patients own skin make the new breed of men far more believable.  Dr. Marci Bowers, formerly Dr. Mark Bowers, a male to female surgery patient who now performs sex reassignment procedures said, “it's what you think of yourself inside,” about transgender persons seeking the surgery.  According to Bowers and many others, if a person looks like a woman, and acts like a woman, she’s a woman no matter how she got there.

Costs More Than Just Financial For Female to Male Surgery

Even the high costs of female-to-male surgery, or sex reassignment, could be deemed reasonable considering surgeons are able to make women into men from the inside out.  Women can have a hysterectomy to remove their uterus, often slowing or eliminating their menstrual cycle, and they can have a mastectomy to remove the breasts.  On the other hand, there are some less obvious costs to having female to male surgery, including complications such as scarring, swelling, bleeding, and infection.  Doctors are also wary of patient conditions, because despite the realistic masculine appearance and hormone treatment, a woman reassigned as a man still may be more prone to certain cancers (such as beast cancer).  Even after the operation, patients should continue to receive pap smears and other gender-specific diagnostic tests.

Thailand, Competes with Colorado Plastic Surgery “Mecca”

Some describe Thailand as a “mecca” for seekers of plastic and cosmetic surgery.  Hundreds of Thai medical facilities offer various procedures to alter the effects of aging, enhance sex appeal, or reassign gender.  Despite Colorado's being hailed as the “sex reassignment capital of the world,” it would appear that given the sunshine, beaches, and sheer number of cross-gendered patients around, Thailand might soon take the crown.
