Increasingly, patients from around the world are combining their holidays with medical vacations to save money on the cost of everything from dental crowns to tooth veneers. This is especially true in the US where dental coverage alludes 120 million individuals.
While the cost of one dental bridge might not justify the 24-hour flight for most people, the cost of a full set of dental crowns does. Even after figuring in the cost of the flight and accommodation, Americans on medical vacations are still poised to save a lot of cash. CNN recently interviewed Californian Eva Dang about her dental tourism experience in Singapore. Dang, who decided to travel 8,800 miles for a dental appointment, says the savings made it worth her while. Dang received a new set of titanium teeth and says that she saved about $15,000.

In addition to the savings, she says that the care was exceptional, as well as familiar. To Dang, the clinic in Singapore looked exactly like those in California, and her dentist was top notch. "It's just as good as America," Dang told CNN. "Doctors are very professional and caring and very attentive."
Sightseeing in Singapore
A member of Singapore’s Tourism Board told CNN that visitors come for cheap health care, but also because Singapore has something they probably can’t find at home. The tiny country is a former British colony, boasting interesting architecture, fabulous shopping, trendy nightlife, tropical weather, and nearby beaches. Bintan, a lush Indonesian island full of popular high-end resorts and spas that offer golf, water sports, and relaxation, is only a 45 minute ferry ride from the city. But food is what Singapore is also justly famous for; its dishes are an eclectic mix of Indian, Chinese, Malay and Western fare that is all on display each July at the popular Singapore Food Festival.
