More Reasons to Choose Weight Loss Surgery in Thailand

Weight Loss Surgery in Thailand

In recent years, the Kingdom of Thailand has been offering more than just sunny weather and beautiful beaches to holiday makers.  The low plastic surgery prices in this medical tourism Mecca have guaranteed a steady stream of tourists who get their noses fixed, smiles brightened, tummies tucked, and have other plastic surgery procedures done at a fraction of the prices back home.  All of this while enjoying a beautiful holiday in paradise.

Weight loss surgery procedures are also on the list of Thai treatments that are in high demand.  For those who want to pursue this weight reduction method but don’t have the means to pay for it in their home country, Thailand offers a viable and affordable option.

Not everybody is eligible for weight loss surgery, but if you wish to explore this further, it helps to know that it’s increasingly being viewed as a safe and sometimes necessary procedure to ensure good health

Tubby Tax Increases Pressure for Weight Loss Surgery

Weight loss surgery isn’t any one single procedure.  Rather, it covers a number of procedures like gastric bypass surgery, and Vertical Banded Gastroplasty (VBG) also known by the painful sounding name of stomach stapling, all of which aim to result in weight loss either by faking a feeling of fullness or decreasing the size of the stomach.

For those who’ve been toying with the idea of weight loss surgery, recent developments might help sway you towards taking the plunge.  An Australian team of health experts has proposed a “tubby tax” on obese persons on planes.  If this turns into law, a person above a set weight limit could be charged an additional tax before he boards a flight. The rationale behind this idea is that it costs airplanes fuel to fly, and increased weight means increased fuel costs.  An obese person who adds to the overall weight limit by more than the prescribed poundage should be made to pay for it, these experts claim. So far, the consensus on the proposal seems to be 50-50 with equal numbers of travelers for and against the proposal.

Another news story that has set off discrimination charges flying around is the case of a British woman who’s been denied entry to New Zealand to join her husband. The reason? She’s too fat.  This has all turned into some kind of circus with a local political party urging the government to sack all obese members of Parliament to set an example! But regardless of how insane some of these proposals or actions seem, they do seem to add weight to the situation (no pun intended).
