Traveling to an international country to receive treatment abroad can be a rewarding and exciting experience.  But there are plenty of circumstances that could turn your dream health vacation into a medical tourism nightmare.  This is especially true if you’re a lone female traveler.  Because women are often “perceived” as more vulnerable, they tend to get singled out for attacks, scams, and harassment.  And this is to say nothing of feminine health and sanitation concerns. 

The majority of female travelers enjoy medical vacations without a single hitch or complaint.  In fact, most medical tourism destinations are extremely safe for tourists, and with a little bit of common sense and caution, you should be able to avoid the discomforts and hassles that are often associated with international travel.  However, we still felt it necessary to outline some of most common health concerns, scams, tips, and pieces of advice that we’ve received from readers in the past.
