Singapore Takes the Bite Out of High-Cost Invisalign Braces
Many people associate cheaper prices with lower quality. Fortunately, in Singapore and other dental tourism destination countries, that association doesn’t necessarily apply. Cheap labor and lower living costs are the primary factors that give patients affordable invisalign braces, dentures, fillings, and pleasant root canals.Â

What Is Hernia Repair?
Hernia repair, laparoscopic hernia repair, or open hernia repair is a treatment designed to remove hernias from within the digestive tract. Left untreated, hernias can cause pain, nausea, and oxygen deprivation within the internal organs. In some rare cases, it can even lead to death. Â
During the repair, the patient receives general anesthesia. The surgeon accesses the herniated area through small incisions to the navel. For visibility, the abdomen is inflated with air and laparoscope and surgical tools are passed through the incisions. The surgeon then repositions these tools to begin removing oxygen-starved areas and repairing the damaged abdominal wall. While many doctors still employ open surgery, laparoscopic technology can help to minimize medical complications and scarring.Â
Determining which type of hernia repair a patient requires depends on a number of factors, such as the extent of the hernia, the age of the patient, and that patient’s medical history. For example, a strangulated hernia puts the intestines at risk of gangrene and requires immediate attention (often an open operation). In the absence of emergency needs, however, most patients typically opt for laparoscopic hernia repair due to the lower risks involved. It’s also possible to live with a hernia with close monitoring and proper pain management. Â
Initial recovery ranges from 1 to 2 weeks, but some hernia repair patients may be released the same day. Complete recovery may take a month or two, with restrictions on heavy lifting. Patients who have had previous abdominal surgery, bleeding disorders, and emphysema are not usually good candidates for laparoscopic hernia repair. Similarly, those taking blood thinners, expecting mothers, or extremely obese persons should discuss alternative treatments with their physicians.| Previous, Hemorrhoidectomy | Next, Intra-Abdominal Abscess |
