Who Are You Guys Exactly?
The Healism.com team is composed of writers, researchers, and IT specialists from a wide range of industries, including health care and tourism. While we do have some salaried staff members, the overwhelming majority of submissions come from volunteers, former patients, and people like you.
From the very beginning, it was decided that we would not brand a product, but rather, we would help promote a general philosophy. Many of us are former medical tourism patients who are deeply committed to making sure that high quality, affordable health care becomes more available worldwide. While we make no claims that medical tourism is ideal for every single candidate, we do believe that it benefit those who are fed up with exorbitant costs, long wait times, or inadequate health care in their home countries. What Qualifies You To Discuss Medical And Dental Tourism?
Because many of us are former medical tourism patients, we have firsthand knowledge of the many benefits (and potential pitfalls) of the industry. But it wasn’t until one of our founding members received intensive back surgery in Thailand that the site first began. Our goal was to help organize all the scattered bits of information out there on the Web. Modern medical tourism is still very much in its infancy, and as such, it lacks cohesion; there aren’t that many places online that have successfully gathered all the data in one convenient place.
We quickly realized, however, that in order to make this site as comprehensive as possible, we would need to supplement our own knowledge and experience. Thus, we began soliciting feedback from everyone we could: insurance specialists, medical experts, attorneys, government agencies, medical tourism patients, travel writers, former patients, and computer engineers. In this way, Healism.com could become a central repository for all of the health issues and travel concerns that potential patients might have. We don’t necessarily claim to be experts, but we do hope that our collective input and cumulative experience might be of use to you. Because Healism.com benefits from so much user feedback and collective input, we are confident that it will continue to evolve and grow.

How Many Writers Do You Currently Have?
We began with two, but it wasn’t long before we had a sizeable in-house staff, not to mention the ever-growing number of travel writers spread around the world. It is next to impossible to provide an accurate count. At any given time, we have between 15-50 different writers making regular contributions; not to mention all the writers who donate just one or two pieces.

Can I Join As A Writer Or Researcher?
User-driven feedback is one of the reasons why the Internet has become such a powerful resource for consumers and businesses alike. If you have experience in medical tourism, travel writing, healthcare, or any related fields, we would love to receive whatever relevant input or insight you might have.

Why Did You Create This Site?
We created Healism.com as a free online resource for anyone who has questions or concerns about medical tourism. We realized (as you probably do as well) that there are major gaps and inefficiencies in the healthcare systems of some of the most industrialized nations around the world. We also realized (as you probably do as well) that there aren’t too many resources available online that adequately address the many legitimate concerns surrounding medical tourism. We basically created Healism.com to bring order to what can only be described as a fairly chaotic industry still in its infancy. We wanted to help answer questions like:
- What vaccinations are required for this country?
- What legal recourse do I have if something goes wrong?
- How do I check the accreditation of a hospital?
- Where is the best place to receive hip surgery?
Please note that as extensive and comprehensive as we’d like our site to be, it is merely one of several resources you should use before venturing abroad for your own medical procedure(s). Any serious exploration of medical or dental tourism should involve your physician/dentist, lawyer, family members, and insurance company.
