As the commercial capital of one of the fastest growing economies in the world, Tel Aviv has no shortage of shopping outlets.  Whether you want swank, air-condition mega-malls or open bazaars and flea markets, Tel Aviv has something for you.

Clothing

Israeli designers are increasingly making their mark on the international fashion scene, and Tel Aviv is where you’ll find their latest collections, hot off the racks.  The northern stretch of Dizengoff Street and the deceptively modest-looking Kakar Hamadina area are home to the largest selection of fashion boutiques in the city.  Shopping here is an exclusive and pricey affair, so make sure that you’re armed with enough plastic to pull it off. If you want to do a little budget clothes shopping, check out the Gan Hashamel area.  A fairly new discovery, it is heavily patronized by locals.  The stores here aren’t as posh, and they feature a more eclectic and quirky clothing range.

Art

Head to Rothschild Boulevard to find superb Israeli art pieces as souvenirs of your medical tourism experience. This once-magnificent avenue is a shadow of its former self, but it is slowly evolving into a haunt for art lovers.  The Gordon Street region also has a selection of art galleries for the serious buyer.

Markets

The Nachalat Binyamin Pedestrian Mall is a unique open-air bazaar that operates on Tuesdays and Fridays. You’ll find countless artisans displaying their handicrafts.  You’ll also discover plenty of entertainment (music performances to juggling acts) to make an evening of it.

The Carmel Market is Tel Aviv’s version of an exotic Arab Bazaar - long narrow alleys lined by stalls on either side, hawking just about everything that you can think of. This is a great place to get a whiff of the spices, herbs, nuts, breads, and produce for which the region is famous.

The Tel Aviv Jaffa Market is a large flea market where you can pick up everything from carpets to frying pans.
