Overview

When it comes to partying and late-night socializing, Tel Aviv tends to steal Jerusalem’s thunder.  There isn’t much of a club scene in Jerusalem, apart from those tucked away inside the hotels.  Things are changing gradually however, and there is a slow but steady improvement in the kind of local after-hours entertainment options available.

Districts

The Shlomzion Hamalka is the nerve center of Jerusalem’s nightlife, with a string of bars and restaurants, each with its own unique flavor. Sheikh Jarrah is popular with a more exclusive crowd, with its café’s and European-style hotels giving the area an upscale vibe. The Old Train Station area is undergoing a metamorphosis as it tries to emerge as the newest hot spot for the young and restless.  For a more sedate evening experience on your medical tourism vacation, drop in at one of the many sleek lounge bars in the neighborhood.  Mingle with the city’s affluent as you sip cocktails and twitter the night away.

Music Performances

Jerusalem has always had a rich history of musical traditions.  Some believe that perpetual longing for the homeland helped the Diaspora develop its ancient relationship with lyricism and melody.   This musical legacy is no only alive and kicking in the Holy City, but has also been injected with new vitality thanks to the constant influx of Russian immigrants. Music, in fact, is the most popular choice of entertainment for the medical tourism vacationer, with song and dance available everywhere. Head to the Israeli Museum for daily music concerts, dance shows, and a host of other cultural events. The Rishon-le-Zion Symphony Orchestra boasts of some of the region’s most talented musicians, many of them new arrivals in the country. There are also a selection of options for the medical tourism visitor with an affinity for jazz and blues in Jerusalem.

Cinema

Jerusalem is home to the Cinematheque which hosts nightly screenings of classics and mainstream blockbusters.  Films are subtitled (Hebrew and English) rather than dubbed.
