Overview

As one of the holiest cities in 3 of the world’s largest religions, Jerusalem receives its fair share of “heavenly” weather.  Some meteorologists, in fact, believe that the Psalms refer to the beautiful climate that the Lord has bestowed on Jerusalem, not only for those lucky enough to live in the Holy Land, but also for all those who visit.  The summers here are definitely more bearable than in the rest of the country, and the winters, although marked by some snowfall and rain, are usually sunny. Whether you attribute this to divine benevolence or merely good geographical location, it’s a fact that Jerusalem has a pleasant climate.  Any time you visit is the “perfect” time for a medical tourism vacation

Seasons

Summer begins in mid to late April.  They can be hot and dry, but the low humidity definitely makes it more bearable.  The evenings are actually quite cold, and this mild weather continues till November, when winter rolls around.  In December, January, and February, you can expect some rain and cooler temperatures (rarely will you freeze). When it’s not raining, the days are actually sunny and pleasant.

Best Times to Visit

Late spring and early fall are the best times to visit Jerusalem, because there’s little rainfall and the summer heat hasn’t yet begun.  Not surprisingly, a lot of tourist traffic consists of religious travelers, and thus, turning a medical tourism vacation into a holy pilgrimage is easily manageable.  Christians here celebrate Easter with great reverence.  Although due to the strong Greek Orthodox influences, some of the ceremonies and rituals might seem unusual to Catholic or Protestant Christians.

A medical tourism trip during Christmas time can include a trip to the Church of the Nativity in nearby Bethlehem.  The Wailing Wall lures travelers during Passover and other major Jewish festivals. If you’re not in the mood for a spiritual makeover, simply avoid Jerusalem during these times as the city is packed and prices are marked up.
