Luxury Accommodations

Being the business and political capital of the state of Tamil Nadu, as well as one of India’s prominent IT hubs, Chennai has its share of 5-star luxury hotels specifically aimed at business travelers and medical tourism visitors alike.  Conveniently located in the city center, these hotels offer amenities that include plush and well-equipped conference halls, banquet venues, multi-cuisine restaurants, rejuvenating spas, and secretarial services.  For those who would like to combine business with pleasure, the city’s spa resorts are an inviting option.  Located close to the airport and railway stations, these resorts boast of private oceanfront property and offer an assorted menu of international wellness therapies and massages in addition to the age-old Ayurveda-based treatments for which India is so famous.  Additional features include business conferencing facilities, a range of leisure options, and catamaran rides.  A single night’s stay in a 5-star luxury hotel can cost upward of $200, including breakfast.  

Midrange Hotels

A slightly less expensive but comfortable option is a 4-star hotel, and a room here can range from $100-$175, depending on the location, reputation and amenities.  For an even more affordable lodging option with fewer frills, find a 3-star hotel where accommodations can cost as little as $80 a night.  Rooms are comfortable, and usually air conditioned (a blessing in sultry Chennai).  Reservations can be made easily online. 

Budget Accommodations   

For those on a modest budget, there are numerous 2-star, and budget hotels within city limits.  They offer spacious air-conditioned rooms, include food, and are quite affordable.  A room at a budget hotel costs between $20 to $80 per night.  Visitors on a shoestring budget need not despair - government lodges and motels are aplenty in Chennai.  You won’t have as many amenities, but the rooms are usually clean and well-serviced.
