Shortages in affordable health care are driving dental patients overseas, where bedside manners, optimal technology solutions, and rock-bottom prices await.  In addition to the low cost and high quality of highly sought after dental procedures like laser teeth whitening, patients find short lines and top quality in places like Turkey, one of Europe’s top dental tourism destinations.

Tropical Climate

Costa Rica is classified as a tropical country because of its geographic location close to the equator.  There are just two seasons that dominate the climate here – dry and wet.  Because the early settlers were ill-equipped to describe non-Mediterranean climates, they simply called the dry season (January through May) summer, and the wet season (May through December) winter.  Technically however, the colder temperatures of the year are recorded at the beginning of the dry or summer season.  Winters are marked by consistent rainfall and gray, dreary skies.

Peak Season

Summer is the holiday season, and the sun is out for more than 12 hours a day.  January is when schools have their holidays, so the locals are out in full force at the beaches and attractions. Foreign holidayers also arrive during this time to escape the freezing weather back home.  If you intend to travel to Costa Rica in January for your medical tourism, plan your trip at least six months in advance – hotels and planes fill up fast.

A typical summer day begins with gorgeous sunshine.  Towards afternoon, it can get sticky and humid, however. Summer is not entirely spared from rainfall either so pack accordingly. Even so, you can expect the sun to rise around 5 in the morning, and stay up till 6 in the evening.

In winter, the mornings are pleasant and sunny, and the rainfall usually begins in the lat afternoon.  The constant rainfall ruins many roads, and four-wheel drive vehicles are strongly recommended for medical tourism vacationers navigating the interiors.  Avoid visiting Costa Rica during September and October for your medical tourism – most of the rainfall is recorded during this period.

As you head towards the mountains, the weather becomes noticeably pleasant.  The opposite happens when you head towards the coastal region; the weather becomes hot and humid.
