Shortages in affordable health care are driving dental patients overseas, where bedside manners, optimal technology solutions, and rock-bottom prices await.  In addition to the low cost and high quality of highly sought after dental procedures like laser teeth whitening, patients find short lines and top quality in places like Turkey, one of Europe’s top dental tourism destinations.

Overview

Because Sao Paulo is the commerce center of Brazil, locals tend to enjoy certain excesses that are hard to duplicate elsewhere in the country.  Paulista lifestyles tend to include expensive restaurants, exclusive clubs, and non-stop shopping.  Sao Paulo is where Brazilians come to pick up everything from the latest fashion designs of Paris (although “latest” is a couple of months later, because of the reversed seasons) to Buddha statues.  If Rio is your point of entry during your medical tourism vacation, make sure you leave the shopping till you get to Sao Paulo.

Clothes

Sao Paulo is the country’s fashion capital with the city’s fashion weeks drawing huge interest from the international media.  Local Brazilian designers are hot property on the global fashion scene, and Sao Paulo is the perfect place to pick up the colorful designs and flamboyant cuts for which Brazilian designers are known.

Avenida Paulista is home to a number of shopping malls and arcades where you can pick up familiar Western brands.  However, Jardins has the crème of the crop as far as fashion labels are concerned.  You’ll find the finest in international fashion, luxury products, fine leather ware, and accessories here.

Jewelry

A visit to Brazil wouldn’t be complete without buying a gemstone or two to commemorate your medical tourism trip.  As in the rest of Brazil, only buy from exclusive showrooms.  These are usually located in the lobbies of five-star hotels

Artifacts

Amerindian artwork, handicrafts, and jewelry make excellent gifts.  They can be found in specialty showrooms throughout the city.

Shopping Areas

For cheaper threads, the Centro area is filled with shoppers looking for discount buys.  Centro has a number of establishments where the prices are affordable, but beware of pickpockets. Away from the glitz of the malls, numerous flea markets offer a chance to pick up some little treasures at a fraction of the price.
