As Americans face the humbling combination of rising fuel prices, higher healthcare costs, and declining dollar values, finding was to save money has become a necessity.  Affordable healthcare in the United States has become an oxymoron.  With more than 47 million Americans uninsured and even more who are underinsured, the gap between affordability and healthcare is widening into a chasm.  As patients search for solutions to their medical needs, the idea of a…

Rio de Janeiro

Whether you’re young, old, Black, White, gay, straight, or anything else in between, Brazil has enough variety and entertainment to satisfy all tastes. This is especially true of Rio de Janeiro where Cariocas – which is what the city’s residents, call themselves - live to have a good time. Brazilians love a good party - a hard day bronzing at the beach is generally followed by a trip to a sea fronted bar, before heading to a club to dance into the wee hours of the morning. You’ll find the nightlife in the rest of the country interesting too, but it can’t hold a disco ball to Rio’s feverish energy.

Make time from your medical tourism itinerary to check out Rio’s celebrated nightlife. Prepare yourself for the bars, dance clubs, lounges, samba halls, rave parties, beach parties, and of course, topping it all off, the "Carnival." There is no curfew, so clubs stay open quite late. But then, they begin filling up quite late into the evening too. Don‘t expect the gyrating to begin before midnight – most of Rio’s beautiful people believe in a warm up at the nearest watering hole before they decide to check in on the clubs. If you’re single, you’ll find Rio’s clubs more than welcoming. Clubs here tend to be geared towards the singleton who wants to not be lonesome tonight.

Sao Paulo

The commercial capital of the country, and a prominent medical tourism destination, Sao Paulo also boasts of a buzzing nightlife, although nowhere on Rio’s scale. There are plenty of entertainment options from cafes to bars, and clubs that open only at midnight.

If you’re up to it on your medical tourism vacation, Recife and Bahia are also renowned for the sheer variety of entertainment options they offer. Bahia, in particular, comes alive in the days preceding Carnival.

More traditional party avenues include street parties where revelers dance on pedestrian-only streets. These are great places if you want to get to know the locals in an environment that’s easy on the pocket – there are no entry fees, and drinks don’t come with outrageous price tags.
