Shortages in affordable health care are driving dental patients overseas, where bedside manners, optimal technology solutions, and rock-bottom prices await.  In addition to the low cost and high quality of highly sought after dental procedures like laser teeth whitening, patients find short lines and top quality in places like Turkey, one of Europe’s top dental tourism destinations.

Luxury Hotels

Cheap Hotels

When the economy crashed in 2002, the suddenly devalued peso caused most of Buenos Aires hotels to drastically slash their hitherto expensive rates, in some places by as much as a third. Although the economy has stabilized somewhat, Buenos Aires is still far from its pre-crash reputation as one of the most expensive cities in the world.

Incoming hordes of dollar and Euro brandishing visitors have contributed to the mushrooming of many new properties, while existing hotels have also been given make overs. The city’s five star hotels compete fiercely to attract the deep pocketed traveler and constantly add newer, more attractive amenities that include spas, health clubs, Wi-Fi access, and in-room safes. Neighborhoods like Puerto Madro and Monserrat are where most of the exclusive four and five star properties are located. Even if you’re normally a budget traveler, you might want to consider camping at one of Buenos Aires’ five star hotels on your medical tourism vacation to take advantage of the fantastic prices.

Budget and Mid Range Hotels

Moderately priced family-run hotels offer medical tourism travelers a charm that’s lacking in the hotel chains, although you might not have as much convenient access to creature comforts. Hostels are the cheapest of all options with a single bed in a bunk filled room going for as low as $5 per night. Budget hotels are slightly more expensive and offer marginally higher comforts. Air conditioning is now standard in most Buenos Aires hotels, but if you really intend to watch your dollar, you should probably ask to see your budget room before you book one.

Apartments

For the medical tourism traveler who will probably stay in Buenos Aires for at least a week, furnished apartments offer a sense of home and a chance to interact with the locals for as low as $70 a night. Perks include a pool, security, gym, internet access, and in-house laundry services. Maid service can be arranged for longer stays, and the overall cost sometimes can add up to less than that of a modest hotel. When selecting apartments, it’s sometimes better to shell out a couple of hundred dollars extra for a better outfitted apartment.
