Types of Climate

Argentina is located in the Southern hemisphere, and therefore, has seasons that are exactly opposite of those in the United States. So while those in North American and European countries reel under the scorching sun, Argentineans are all bundled up in their warm woollies...and vice versa.

The most popular tourist seasons are during the warmer months between November and March. The hottest summer months between December and February are best avoided. The weather patterns in Argentina vary from north to south and from east to west. Be sure to research the weather and pack accordingly before your medical tourism vacation.

Climatic Variations in Argentina

The provinces of Corrientes and Misiones, the eastern section of the Chaco region, and the northern area of Entre Ríos experience warm and subtropical weather which is marked by abundant rainfall and high temperatures through the year. The regions of Salta, the eastern plains of Tucumán, the west of Formosa and Chaco, nearly the whole of Santiago del Estero, and NW Santa Fe experience hot weather in the first half of the year.

The regions of Catamarca Andes, La Puna, La Rioja, and San Juan have a dry and arid climate, while cold weather conditions are prevalent in the Patagonian Andes where there are no moderate temperatures even in the summer months. You’ll find similar weather conditions in Santa Cruz and in glacier spots in the high Patagonian mountain ranges. The province of Buenos Aires, large parts of Entre Rios, the eastern strip of Cordoba, parts NE of La Pampa, and the center and south of Santa Fe experience moderate climates throughout the year. With such wide climatic variations, medical tourism visitors will have a range of holiday spots to choose from on their Argentinean vacation.
