Turkey Becoming Synonymous with Saving Money
Shortages in affordable health care are driving dental patients overseas, where bedside manners, optimal technology solutions, and rock-bottom prices await. In addition to the low cost and high quality of highly sought after dental procedures like laser teeth whitening, patients find short lines and top quality in places like Turkey, one of Europe’s top dental tourism destinations.Â
Dental Work, Then Medical Vacation
The term medical vacation comes from the exotic locations of many medical and dental tourism destination countries like Singapore,…
A Vacation Package to Cover the Cost of Botox Injections
ABC News recently reported on a summer getaway package being offered by New York plastic surgeon Dr. Stephen Greenberg. The package includes a rented mansion in the Hamptons, nurse, chauffeur, chef, VIP access to various clubs and parties, and unlimited plastic surgery as well as new clothes to go with your new body. Sound like a win for interstate medical tourism? Not if the price tag of a half million U.S. dollars is anything to go by. Most of the rest of us aren’t able or willing to go that far to cover the cost of our Botox injections. We’d rather go farther. Yes, that’s right. Right out of the country, in fact—all the way out to the gorgeous sandy, white beaches of the Philippines. Your Botox injections will only take an hour and you’ll have the rest of the time to relax on an island paradise, either on a tourist beach or a secluded one, all for a fraction of what you’d pay under the US’ plastic surgery prices. And I don’t just mean the half million dollar package. According to the Southtown Star, “In 2007, there were 11.7 million cosmetic procedures, including minimally invasive procedures such as Botox injections. The price tag for these surgeries and treatments: $12.4 million.â€Â
Why Medical Tourism?
Although Botox injections are simple procedures that only need an hour or so of your time, it may be worth your while to combine it with other plastic surgery options to give yourself a complete (and noticeable) makeover. If that’s an option, what better way to recover from the procedure than to sit on a beach on one of the islands of the Philippines and relax (assuming you get your doctor’s approval first)? The cost of the trip, inclusive of air tickets, accommodation, meals, transportation, and medical bills will still be lower than the combined total of the same procedures in the U.S., without all the trimmings of a health vacation. Thus, back home, you get your surgery and then it’s back to the drudgery of the 9 to 5 environment. With a health vacation, you look better and you feel rejuvenated.Â
