New Moms Contemplate Cosmetic Surgery Prices

Many celebrity mothers say they spend the first months of their babies’ lives in the gym with a personal trainer.  For a normal woman, however, this is probably not an option.  After the rigors of childbirth, many new moms find that parts of their bodies have shifted or stretched in ways that they were not expecting.  Unhappy with a little extra weight around their stomachs or sagging breasts, patients with new babies sometimes opt for a “mommy makeover” to look like their pre-pregnant selves again.   

Advances in medical technology now allow a few procedures to be done all at once, resulting in a combined surgery that can lead to dramatic results.  KABC TV in the US recently ran a feature story on the mommy makeover.  They reported that these combined surgeries usually consist of a tummy tuck, liposuction, and some kind of breast surgery.  However, cosmetic surgery prices in the US aren’t cheap; the total cost of all procedures (depending on whether a breast lift, breast reduction, breast augmentation or other type of breast procedure is chosen) in a mommy makeover can range from $10,000 to $25,000.

It is a fact:  new moms are really busy.  But by combining a few procedures in one session, patients only have one recuperation time, not two or three.  A recent news story by KFSN reported that streamlined surgeries fit nicely into busy schedules.  "If we're able to do surgeries in combination then [patients] are able to have one down time, similar antibiotics, and similar pain pills,” says Dr. Mark Chin, a plastic surgeon in Fresno, California.  “The recovery is now reduced to one inconvenience.”  Dr. Carl Askren, also of Fresno, says that a mommy makeover of three or less procedures usually would take around seven hours of surgery.  Opting to receive their procedures overseas, new moms can save more time by combining a medical tourism vacation with their surgery recovery period.

Fleeing high cosmetic surgery prices in the United States, women have been coming to Asia to reshape their bodies for years.  Women travelers to Thailand and Singapore often remark that these two countries have a lot to offer the solo woman traveler in the way of comfort, safety, and affordability.  And when it comes to cosmetic care, few can disagree with these two countries’ track records.  Thailand is especially renowned for its beauty enhancement industry.  If doctors in the land of smiles can make grown men look like voluptuous women, surely they can do the necessary for new mommies.
