  • Turkey Becoming Synonymous with Saving Money

Shortages in affordable health care are driving dental patients overseas, where bedside manners, optimal technology solutions, and rock-bottom prices await.  In addition to the low cost and high quality of highly sought after dental procedures like laser teeth whitening, patients find short lines and top quality in places like Turkey, one of Europe’s top dental tourism destinations.

Families Head to Mexico and Other Medical Tourism Destinations

What started as trips for cosmetic surgeries to places like Mexico and Thailand has now evolved enough to fit into the genre of “family travel.”  The NY Times reports that the new trend in dental tourism is the concept of family medical vacations.  It’s exactly what the name implies.  Families are discovering that a vacation to a place like Mexico is affordable in more ways than one.  You can have the holiday the kids want and get your entire brood’s molars checked, filled, or extracted at affordable prices.

It’s a relatively new concept, and a lot of dental tourism companies haven’t yet started offering cost-friendly and family friendly special packages yet, but the trend is definitely picking up.  Above all, it makes perfect sense for families, who want to kill two birds with one stone.  The savings you enjoy can actually justify a foreign holiday even if you weren’t so inclined.

Cost of Laser Teeth Whitening

Leona Denison from Albuquerque, NM was one such patient who visited Costa Rica; a favored dental tourism destination reputed for its safety and health standards.  Denison visited with her entire family for some dental work plus some sun and surf on the side.  And she’s not alone.  Other patients report that a flight and a couple of hours in the dentist chair is actually less stressful than visiting a local dentist and arriving back at your office still woozy from the anesthesia.  Many feel that a vacation takes the edge of the strain of the dental treatment.  Plus, the costs of procedures like laser teeth whitening are a fraction of the cost at home.  Even when you factor in the costs of airplane tickets, accommodation, and other expenses, a dental tourism medical vacation still comes out on top as the winner.

This is definitely a heath travel trend that’s worth keeping an eye on.
